Cable Alternatives

Ready to quit cable but not sure what to do without it? Cutting the cord doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your favorite TV shows anymore. If you have an internet connection, you can join a fast-growing group of consumers who have decided to save money by canceling cable. There are lots of alternatives to cable out there—in fact, there are so many that it can be a bit confusing. This section of the site is here to help you figure out how you can continue to enjoy your favorite movies, TV shows, and other entertainment sources once you cancel your cable subscription.

In general, alternatives to cable fall into two categories: content services and hardware. Content services give you access to entertainment. A content service could be the content provider offering you direct access as in a network TV station’s website or it could be a service that offers you access to content from many content providers as Hulu and Netflix do. Hardware is what allows you to access the content services and includes everything from your computer to the TV that you use.
